NORTON SHORES – State Representative Mary Valentine (D-Norton Shores) wants to create greener neighborhoods by handing out 1,000 free red pine saplings to local residents.
"It is important to share in efforts that will not only improve our quality of life, but also beautify our neighborhoods," Valentine said. "Projects like these help to extend the roots of our vibrant community, making West Michigan a more attractive place for companies to grow and create jobs for our workers now."
Valentine and volunteers will hand out trees and recycling information throughout the district on Friday, May 2; Saturday, May 3; and Monday, May 5.
"Planting trees to keep West Michigan green will help create opportunities for us all," Valentine said. "Taking an active interest in our natural resources makes our neighborhoods better places to live, work and raise our families. I encourage residents to join us in delivering trees and discussing ways to keep our community green."
